Our Workshop

A Workshop Built Around
the Watch in Front of It

Pusaka Horology was founded on a simple belief: that mechanical timepieces deserve patient, documented attention — not rushed turnarounds or unnecessary replacements.

The Workshop

How Pusaka Horology Came to Be

Pusaka Horology grew from years of quiet work on mechanical watches — the kind that had been worn through decades of daily life, put aside in drawers, or handed down without documentation of their last service.

The name Pusaka, meaning heritage or heirloom in Malay, reflects what many of these pieces are to their owners: objects that carry something of a person's history. The workshop was founded with the understanding that repairing such a watch is not simply a technical task — it is an act of care toward something that holds meaning.

Based in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, the workshop serves collectors, inheritors, and everyday owners who want their watches attended to with respect. Each service is treated on its own terms — assessed, agreed in writing, and documented at every stage.

We have no interest in upselling unnecessary work or replacing what can be preserved. Our aim is to return each piece in better condition than it arrived, with a clear written account of what was done and why.

Our Mission

To attend to mechanical timepieces with patience, precision, and honesty — returning each watch with documentation that its owner can keep alongside the piece itself.

What We Value

  • Honesty in assessment — sharing what we find before any work is agreed
  • Conservation first — preserving original material where the owner values it
  • Clarity in communication — no unexplained charges or scope changes
  • Patient workmanship — each movement is given the time the work requires

Standards of Practice

How We Approach the Work

These are not aspirations — they are practices we follow on every piece that enters the workshop, regardless of its value or condition.

Written Assessment Before Work

Every piece receives a written condition assessment before any service is agreed. The owner decides on the scope — nothing proceeds without their written acknowledgement.

Correct Lubricants & Parts

We use movement-specific lubricants at recommended oil grades. Replacement parts are selected for compatibility with the original specification — not simply for availability.

Ultrasonic Cleaning Protocol

Components are cleaned ultrasonically in appropriate solutions to remove old lubricants and debris without damaging delicate surfaces or jewel settings.

Multi-Position Timing

After overhaul, each movement is tested across multiple positions and the timing results are recorded in the service report returned with the watch.

Sealing Integrity Checks

Where gaskets are renewed during crystal or case work, the case sealing integrity is verified before the watch is returned. This applies to all crystal replacement services.

Photographic Documentation

Dial restoration work is photographed at key stages. These images are shared with the client so the work is fully visible and there are no questions about what was done.

Watch Repair in Kuala Lumpur — A Different Kind of Workshop

Pusaka Horology occupies a quiet position in Kuala Lumpur's watch repair landscape. Rather than volume throughput, the workshop is structured around thoroughness — each mechanical overhaul, dial restoration, or crystal replacement is carried out with the same level of attention, whether the piece is a workhorse daily watch or a cherished heirloom passed between generations.

The workshop draws on established horological practices — ultrasonic component cleaning, correct-grade lubrication, multi-position timing regulation — and applies them to the specific requirements of each movement. There is no single approach that fits all mechanical watches, and Pusaka Horology does not pretend otherwise.

Clients across Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley bring their watches to the Jalan Sultan Ismail workshop for mechanical overhauls, vintage dial conservation, and sapphire crystal replacement. Many have previously had watches returned by other workshops in less than satisfactory condition — parts replaced unnecessarily, dials refinished when conservation would have served better, or timing records never provided. The aim at Pusaka Horology is to give owners clarity about the work, confidence in the result, and documentation they can keep.
