Methodology

How Each Service Proceeds

Every service at Pusaka Horology follows the same foundational sequence — regardless of the work involved. This is not a rigid system for its own sake; it is the approach that lets us carry out thorough work and give you clarity at every stage.

The workshop does not quote for work it has not examined, and it does not begin work that has not been agreed. These practices keep both parties clear on what is happening and why.

1

Condition Assessment

The piece is examined and a written condition report is prepared. This is shared with you before anything further is agreed.

2

Scope Agreement

You review the assessment and confirm the scope in writing. Work proceeds only within what has been agreed.

3

Service Execution

The agreed work is carried out using correct materials and methods. Any unexpected findings are communicated before the scope is extended.

4

Documentation & Return

The watch is tested, timed, and returned with a written service report. Photographs accompany dial restoration work.

Service 01

Mechanical Movement Overhaul

A considered service for mechanical and automatic timepieces. The work includes full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of components, lubrication with appropriate oil grades, positional regulation, and careful reassembly. Each stage is documented and the watch is returned with a written service report and a courtesy timing record covering several positions.

Suitable for owners who wish to preserve a long-loved piece for many more years of regular wear, with no obligation to commit before the assessment is shared.

Service 02

Vintage Dial Restoration

A hand-finished restoration for dials affected by age, moisture, or oxidation. Work proceeds only after a written condition assessment and the client's written agreement on scope. Where original character matters, the workshop favours conservation over rework — small marks of age are kept when they speak to the watch's history.

The piece is returned with photographs of the work in progress so the client can see exactly what was done.

Service 03

Sapphire Crystal Replacement

Replacement of damaged or scratched crystals with appropriately matched sapphire glass, including gasket renewal where suitable. The bezel is removed and refitted with care, and case sealing integrity is checked after fitting.

The service includes a quiet consultation on whether the original crystal can be retained or repolished, when that is meaningful to the collector or owner.

Choosing a Service

Which Service Is Right for Your Watch?

This table is a guide. If you are unsure which service applies, a written condition assessment will clarify what the watch actually needs.

Feature Movement Overhaul Dial Restoration Crystal Replacement
Watch running poorly or stopped
Dial discolouration or oxidation
Scratched or damaged crystal
Periodic maintenance (3–5 yr)
Vintage/collector piece — aesthetic
Progress photographs returned

If you are uncertain, send us a brief description and we will advise which service is appropriate before any assessment fee is incurred.

Shared Standards

Protocols Across All Services

Regardless of which service is required, the following practices apply to every piece that enters the workshop.

Secure Handling & Storage

Pieces are stored in labelled, padded trays when not being actively worked on. Access to the workshop is controlled and each watch is logged in on arrival.

Lubricant Grade Compliance

Movement-specific lubricants are used at the manufacturer-recommended grade. The lubricants used are noted in the service report returned with the watch.

Sealing Verification

Case sealing integrity is checked following any work that involves the bezel, gaskets, or case back — not assumed from the condition at intake.

Written Consent Required

Work does not commence without written confirmation of scope. Any change to the agreed scope during service is referred back to the client before proceeding.

Timing Verification

Movement overhauls are timed across multiple positions using a timing machine. Results are recorded and returned with the service report.

Confidential Correspondence

Client details and watch information are used solely for service correspondence. Nothing is shared with third parties. See our Privacy Policy.
